Frequently asked questions about employed student registration.

 If this is your first time applying for employed student registration

The employer requires my CRNBC ID number at a job fair/interview
  1. To obtain a CRNBC ID number submit an application and required documents (see below).
  2. Bring the Confirmation of Enrolment and Employment (form 10.1) to your school to confirm your current enrolment.
  3. Bring the CRNBC Identification number and Form 10.1 to job fair/interview
  4. When you have a job offer, your employer must complete form 10.1.
  5. Submit this COMPLETED form by email to register@crnbc.ca or fax 604-736-3576
  6. You will receive an email confirming registration has been granted (normally within 7-10 business days).
The employer does NOT require my CRNBC ID number at the job fair/interview
  1. Download the Confirmation of Enrolment and Employment (form 10.1)
  2. Bring the form 10.1 to your school to confirm your current enrolment.
  3. Bring Form 10.1 to job fair/interview
  4. When you have a job offer, your employer must complete their section of form 10.1
  5. Create a CRNBC ESR application and required documents (see below) and upload the COMPLETED form 10.1 with your application.
  6. You will receive an email confirming registration has been granted (normally within 7-10 business days).

 If you previously held employed student registrant status

I do not currently hold ESR status
  1. Download the Confirmation of Enrolment and Employment (form 10.1)
  2. Bring the form 10.1 to your school to confirm your enrolment.
  3. Bring the Form 10.1 to job fairs/the interview
  4. When you have a job offer, your employer must complete form 10.1.
  5. Create a CRNBC ESR application below and upload the COMPLETED form 10.1
  6. You will receive an email confirming registration has been granted (normally within 7-10 business days).

Who is eligible for employed student registration (ESR)?
You must be currently enrolled in an approved nursing program. In addition, you must also demonstrate you are of good character and fit to engage in the practice of nursing. If you have ESR and you leave your program for any reason, contact CRNBC right away.
What is the most common reason for delays to the application process?
  1. The Employer does not fully complete all sections of the Confirmation of Employment (form 10.1)
  2. The Statutory Declaration (form 11) and/or ID document(s) are not notarized (see the Employed Student Registration page).
When is my registration valid until?

Normally, all registration is valid until the last day of February.

How do I get ESR?

You must submit:

  1. an online ESR application,
  2. a notarized copy of an identity documents for each of your legal names (not required if previously submitted)
  3. a notarized copy of the statutory declaration (not required if previously submitted)
  4. a completed Confirmation of  Enrolment and Employment (form 10.1)
  5. you will receive an email when ESR is granted.

The order you do things depends on:  employer requirements; if you applied for and/or held ESR status in the past; if you currently have ESR.

What if my employment start or end date changes, or the offer is withdrawn?

If this happens after you have submitted Form 10.1, you must contact CRNBC.

What title do ESRs use?
"Employed Student Nurse" or "Employed Student of Nursing". See the CRNBC Practice Standard Appropriate Use of Titles.
How long is my application valid for?
Once you submit your application, you will have six months to find employment and submit the employer-completed form 10.1. Please plan your submission dates accordingly.
How long does the application process take?

​Once you have completed your application and demonstrated that you meet the registration requirements, it typically takes five days to process your application and confirm you are eligible for practising status.

If you are eligible, you will recieve an email that enables you to pay your registration fees online. Once paid, registration is typically granted within a few hours. You will receive a confirmation email detailing your registration once it is complete.
