Boards of three nursing colleges announce BCCNP’s first CEO

posted July 13, 2018

We are pleased to announce that the boards of B.C.’s three nursing regulators have this week appointed Cynthia Johansen to serve as the first CEO of the BC College of Nursing Professionals (BCCNP). Cynthia currently serves as the Registrar/CEO of the College of Registered Nurses of B.C.

Decision making process

A Transition Steering Committee, comprising representatives from all three college boards, worked with executive search firm PFM to engage with stakeholders and execute the selection process focused on finding the candidate who was best suited to fulfilling the duties as outlined in the CEO role profile.

After careful consideration, the committee came to the consensus that Cynthia was the candidate best suited to the dual role of guiding BCCNP through this critical transformation period, while also playing a prominent leadership role in the evolution of nursing regulation in the interest of public protection.

Next steps

Cynthia has assumed decision-making responsibilities on behalf of BCCNP, and will continue to consult with the CEOs of both the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses and the College of Licensed Practical Nurses as we work towards BCCNP go-live on Sept. 4, 2018.

Please join the staff and boards of BC's three nursing colleges in congratulating Cynthia on her appointment.
